Karlsson Nets 2 for Golden Knights OT Win

Are we ever going to watch the Vegas Golden Knight play every other day without COVID getting in the way of everything? Let’s see what happens after today…

Who scored during the game? What time was remaining during the game? Who assisted who during the game?

  • Rickard Rakell scored with 9:51 remaining in the 1st period. 1-0 ANA
  • Alex Pietrangelo scored with 3:32 remaining in the first period. 1-1 TIE
  • William Karlsson scored with 10:05 remaining in the second period. 2-1 VGK
  • Adam Henrique scored with 8:55 remaining in the 3rd period. 2-2 TIE
  • William Karlsson scored with 3:28 remaining in overtime. 3-2 VGK

What went on in period 1

It seemed like the Vegas Golden Knights were on top of their game from the drop of the puck. They controlled the puck and prevented the Anaheim Ducks from going past the blue line for the first 9 minutes of the period. All was running great until Rickard Rakell for the Ducks scored. It seemed like after that Rakell goal, the Golden Knights lost their confidence in controlling the puck. It didn’t take long for Alex Pietrangelo to answer back though as he would tie the game late in the first. So, if Vegas wants to win this second period, they need to do well from the beginning and continue to pressure.

The Ducks Rickard Rakell scored the only goal after what seemed like a quiet period for Anaheim. Before the Ducks goal, it seemed like they were looking sloppy. They gained their confidence though in the final few minutes of the 1st only to have Vegas strike. If the Ducks want to be better in the entire 2nd, they’ll have to come out and find a way to counter the Golden Knights attack.

What went on in period 2

William Karlsson for the Golden Knights got an early go ahead goal to start the period. All throughout the period, both Anaheim and Vegas had numerous opportunities to add to the score, but no one could seem to do it. Let’s see what happens in the 3rd.

What went on in the 3rd period

Nothing really happened in the first half of the 3rd. The 2 teams were still looking for that golden scoring opportunity but it didn’t come in the first half of the period. Early on in the 2nd half of the 3rd though, Adam Henrique scored the tying goal. The rest of the period showcased both goalies stopping the puck until the game went to overtime.

What went on in overtime

In a 5 minute battle to see who is crowned the victor, William Karlsson scored his 2nd goal of the night, breaking his no goals in 9 game drought.

in conclusion

Both teams played a solid game and the Ducks continue to show they are not going to be an easy pushover for the majority of nights. Fleury especially did great as he continues to add to his pedigree, this time picking up his 100th win with the Vegas Golden Knights.
