Alex Pietrangelo has returned to the ice for the Vegas Golden Knights in another deadline-esque addition to the team similar to the return of Robin Lehner. While Pietrangelo is donning a red no contact jersey in practice with the team, this is a big step in his return as he is now listed day-to-day per head coach Pete DeBoer.
With Pietrangelo no longer inching towards a return and now in the final stretch of getting back into the games, this will provide a boost to Vegas and help solidify the backend for the stretch run.
Since joining the Vegas Golden Knights via free-agency this past summer, Pietrangelo was brought in to be the top tier defenseman to help bolster the group along with Shea Theodore and company. While starting off slow, Pietrangelo was starting to look stronger with each game prior to his injury on March 6th. With the first injury reports having him listed as out for the foreseeable future, to have him close to returning just shy of a month since suffering the injury is a big step in getting the team primed for the Stanley Cup run.
Vegas will soon roll out a defensive lineup featuring Shea Theodore, Alex Pietrangelo, Alec Martinez who is having a career renaissance year, Zach Whitecloud and added depth pieces of Dylan Coghlan and Nick Hague. If Pietrangelo can get closer to St. Louis form then adding him back into the lineup as a former Captain and Stanley Cup Champion, his veteran experiences paired with Alec Martinez for the defensive group will be a huge addition for the team rolling forward.
